Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.
The Bible, Book of Job, 1:21
Job has always been my hero. A man who keeps a positive attitude even when all his massive wealth is taken away from him, his family is devastated and he's faced against all kind of miseries. He uses religion to carry on, but to me as an atheist this verse from the Bible is just one of my long term mantras: don't expect anything, don't get attached to anything or anyone, because you can lose that just as easily as you got it.
Looking at it plainly, it may give the impression that you can become a cold person but, on the contrary, the consequence of that statement is, that you have to enjoy what you have, to love the people around you and accept all you are, all you have, as presents, blessings, not as something that belongs to you or you deserve.
So yesterday someone stole my phone… The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away… There’ll be a reason that maybe I will never understand for that fact in my life, maybe just some lesson I must learn… but in the end this will be for the better. I decide to enjoy life. Blessed be the name of the Lord.
